It would appear that Harvey Milk is coming back into vogue among gays, and Sean Penn is the vehicle to making this story timely once again. I am not certain that I see Milk as a gay hero: much of the story surrounding his assassination would seem to be political merely. I would not like to think that the gays are having another Matthew Shepard moment. Shephard was the gay student beaten to death, supposedly in an act of homophobic hate. A closer look at the story proved it may well have been drug-related (Andrew Sullivan himself did not like Shephard being championed as a gay victim). Gay Agenda tactics?
