Felled by Inner Demons , Amanda Knox 's Story is Tragic

Disclaimer:  I have removed this posting,  which was a psychoanalysis I conducted of Ms. Knox in March,  2009,  because in the interrum,  I have become acquainted with the Hendry analysis of the crime scene,  and no longer believe there is evidence of a staging or clean-up of the crime scene to indict or convict Ms. Knox.  Ergo,  a psychoanalysis which presupposes Knox's guilt,  and takes as its starting point her repressed sexual rage,  is no longer relevant.  SM Kovalinsky

As details emerge about the childhood and teen years of accused killer Amanda Knox,  I am beginning to feel very sorry for her.  Two excellent posts I found -  one on a blog called,  Lies Our Mothers Told Us,  and one an Enneagram analysis of Knox's personality type  -  were so in-depth in their analysis of the facts that I now feel I know Knox,  and strongly identify with her  ( although not with her alleged violent crime).

You have stated perhaps similar thought to my own.
However, the current problems for her, are the clearly absurd notions pumped out by her 'family' and FOA campaigners whom continue to attempt in influencing her trial.
Taking the public as fools, has further weakened her their case for her so called innocence.
A real loving family would have sought the truth from Amanda a long time ago - even if it would hurt.

Thank you for your astute comments, which I am in agreement with. Her family is in denial, and do not want to be burdened with the truth. In the beginning, I also thought that the police had made a mistake. But as more information was revealed, I came to the conclusion that this was a sick girl. I feel for her, and for the poor innocent victim and her family. I think Amanda's family has terrified her into having to play the role of the innocent. If they could accept what happened, she would most likely be willing to confess. I think it is the loss of their love, and not the loss of her freedom, which is frightening her, and causing her to smile in such a strange way, as if the innocent college girl is what she feels she must convey. Thank you again.

Hi SM, I too share your view that Amanda is a very sick girl, she needed help, she was crying out for it a long time before she arrived in Perugia yet nobody listened, nobody gave a damn and look what happened.

Thank you for the link to my blog, I hope you continue to express your views on this case and as someone said to me when I started blogging about the case, a message I feel I should pass on:

Thanks for caring about Meredith

Miss R: Thank you for reading my piece. I have read many posts on your blog, and find it fascinating, astute, and beautifully-written. I had originally (when first hearing of the case) assumed that Ms. Knox was a victim of an overzealous Italian prosecutor: But as the facts emerged , I found myself being given stern pause. I was happy to mention your blog ( and have done so in other of my pieces about Amanda) and believe that your scholarship and psychoanalytical skills are sound, and superior. I do care deeply for the tragic end of the undeserving Meredith Kercher, and can only pray that her parents and loved ones can find so peace in knowing that however short her life was, it was well-lived. Of course the same cannot be said for Amanda. Thank you for your kind remarks.

SM, I think a lot of people were 'swayed' by the PR campaign aimed at discrediting the prosecutor Dr Mignini and the reliable forensic evidence collected at the crime scene.

One of the biggest blockades to truth in this case has been the assumption that Amanda is incapable of this level of violence simply because she is a middle class American female, something I have noticed through many years of researching violent crime is that women are just as capable of violence as men.

I'm glad you looked at the evidence, considered it and weighed it all up and I cannot stress how important it is that people like you make their voices heard on this case! Justice for Meredith depends on it.

ELLIE: Yes, that is a great prejudice people have about middle class white college girls. I also think people who do not understand a lot of in-depth psychology, greatly underestimate the degree to which a confused girl like Amanda can come to IDENTIFY with males, to the point of egging on a sexual assault. When I was in my 20s, I worked for a time as a counselor for disturbed girls, and they did in fact identify with the males ( of which many started as victims; i.e., they came to "BE" the male who raped them, etc.) If Amanda had some troubling sexual experiences , she may have wanted to push them off on another female ( "If it was good enough for me, it is good enough for Meredith".). My intuition is that Amanda, for all her bravado and supposed narcissism, is really scared and filled with self-loathing. Poor Meredith was a case of "being in the wrong place at the wrong time". It shows that supervision is indeed probably required for college kids living together.

SM, I completely agree, supervision of these kids abroad is absolutely essential, in fact there are two very good posts on TJMK one recent post about American kids coming off their meds and 'going wild' abroad and another by Stuarthome2000 about Knox's actual status in Perugia.

She was totally unsupervised, nobody was checking up on her at all. No wonder she went 'off the rails', I cannot help thinking that if Amanda was properly supervised in Perugia that Meredith would still be alive today, if one good thing is to come out of this tragedy it is some kind of policy change aimed at ensuring ALL kids, no matter what their age, race, gender or country of origin are properly supervised abroad.

I agree whole-heartedly, and perhaps Meredith's parents and loved ones can find a measure of comfort in organizing some sort of public action to that end. Thanks as always for your fine comments!

SM, Thanks for allowing me to comment!

The Kercher family have been very stoic throughout the whole ordeal, they are calmly waiting for justice to be served. They have been simply incredible and I could never express to them in words how sorry I am for their loss.

I hope when this is all over that somebody, somewhere will take this task on.

I look forward to reading more of your blogs on this case.
