The Case for National Education Standards - washingtonpost.com

I agree fully with this piece by Weingarten  from washingtonpost.com : A return to a national consensus in all ways has been made necessary by the splintering and individual interest attitude which has held sway since the 1980s.  Howe and Strauss predicted such a national return,  and those on the right who complain greatly about it should know that simple cause and effect is the order of the day.  "Submit to the law that you yourselves proposed"  was Nietzsche's reply to those who complain at the Change which they themselves have made necessary and inevitable.
