Change in Passport form leads to web debates
Image by alex-s via FlickrA change on the US Passport form by the state department has generated much online debate. The gender-neutral "parent 1 & parent 2" has replaced "Mother and Father" on the application forms. This was in deference to LGBT rights.

Does taking the position that “Gays and Lesbians have a right to live as they choose ... [but] they don’t have the right to redefine marriage for all of us,” really constitute hate speech? Why does SPLC devote a paragraph to someone who used NOM's name even though he had no affiliation? . . . SPLC's current management has done extensive damage to the real fight against hate groups by conflating political opponents with violent extremists, by using the hate group and similar lists against mainstream conservative groups and individuals, and by using its past reputation to shape the political landscape.

Prediction: Gays will regret voting GOP to spite Obama
Because Obama dragged his feet on some issues, did we need to vote in agents of regression???

“I think a lot of people will wake up on Wednesday morning and say, ‘Oh, my God, we’re going to be in the desert for a little while,’” said Dison, director of communications.
Dison said it was tactically brilliant for the Tea Party movement and Republicans to steer clear of social-issue discussions such as gay rights and abortion because many of their candidates trend so far to the right of the nation as a whole.

In the wake of the seismic change brought about by Election Day results on Tuesday, supporters of LGBT rights are making new plans to advance their agenda in Congress as many signature bills now seem out of reach.
On Tuesday, the Republicans swept back into power by winning a majority of seats in the U.S. House and by shrinking the Democratic majority in the Senate.
CNN on Wednesday projected the GOP will take control of the U.S. House in the 112th Congress by winning at least 60 seats in the election — far more than the 39 seats the party needed to take control of the chamber.

Advocates on both sides of the aisle almost uniformly agreed that the large agenda items such as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, Defense of Marriage Act repeal, and passing domestic partner benefits for government employees would be nonstarters in the 112th Congress. But most also agreed that "don't ask, don't tell" repeal might still garner bipartisan support.
The only gay people who seem to be happy with the results are the gay Republicans over at GOProud. Christopher Barron, chairman of the Board of GOProud said the LGBT community should see the opportunities for economic equality that a Republican majority in the House could bring.

Gay Escort Talks: Anti-Gay NARTH board member is gay

The gay male escort hired to accompany Family Research Council co-founder and NARTH board member George Alan Rekers has told Miami New Times that Rekers is a homosexual who paid him to provide sexual services during their ten-day vacation in Europe.

The 20-year-old escort who goes by his working name of Lucien, contradicts Rekers's contentions that he hired the escort to help carry his luggage and that he was trying to save the soul of a lost sinner.
Although Rekers does have medical problems which makes it difficult for him to carry luggage, this is not the only service the escort was providing.
"It's a situation where he's going against homosexuality when he is a homosexual," Lucien says. (When New Times called seeking comment, Rekers had turned his phone off. An email was not returned. He has termed the New Times article "slanderous" on his website.)
Miami New Times conducted the interview with Lucien late last night in his Fort Lauderdale townhome. Since the story broke, the youth has been flooded with uninvited guests.
His trip with Reker's has gained global media attention and has been the subject of spoofs by Jay Leno and Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert.
Lucien had originally declined to comment on the breaking news story until a close friend alerted him to the depth and scope of his client's anti-gay activities. He now believes he is doing no good by aiding and abetting his client's hypocrisy.
Rekers, a board member at the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) and cofounder of the Family Research Council, has attempted to claim that he took the gay escort on his trip in order to conduct "ex-gay" therapy, and turn him from the error of his lifestyle.

Says Lucien: "In all honesty, he should disassociate himself from these [anti-gay] groups."
New Times will update the public with stories detailing the trip, the document Rekers asked Lucien to prepare in the hopes of preventing any future disclosures, and an indepth character study of the young gay male who has told his story during what must in retrospect be a painful encounter with the hypocrisy of the anti-gay movement.
