"According to CNN, 31% of self-identified gay voters supported Republican candidates for the U.S. House. This number is a dramatic increase from the 19% GOP House candidates won among gay voters in 2008. The gay left would have you believe that gay conservatives don’t exist. Now we see that almost a third of self-identified gay voters cast ballots for Republican candidates for Congress in this year’s mid-term. This should be a wake-up call for the out-of-touch so-called leadership of Gay, Inc. in Washington, D.C., which has become little more than a subsidiary of the Democrat Party.". . . Among GOProud's 2010 endorsees was Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), who voted for a ban on gay adoptions in Washington DC, voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment, and who has called the LGBT rights movement "the greatest threat to our freedom that we face today." Coburn has a 0% rating from the Human Rights Campaign. Additionally, he is a member ofThe Family, a DC-based coalition of GOP lawmakers and Christianist activists best known for their promulgation of Uganda's "kill gays" bill. GOProud would like you to know that they are delighted with Coburn's reelection.

NY Senator Joseph Addabbo's B-Day Bash Disrupted by LGBT Protests | NowPublic News Coverage

New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo was among 8 NY Democrats who voted against the Marriage Equality bill in Dec. 2009.  This past  Sunday,  that came back to haunt him at his Birthday celebration and fundraiser  in Queens:  LGBT protestors showed up,  and yelled their protests.  

Call it fairness. Call it karma. Call it Joseph Addabbo getting a run for his money.

Members of the direct action group Queer Rising confronted Addabbo about the substantial financial and electoral assistance he received from gay groups in 2008.

Yelling  “Joe Must Go!” to a room that included the senator’s family, the gay advocacy protesters voiced their disappointment.  Some gays, though, have remarked that such tactics are unseemly, and work against the gay cause in the long run.  

NBCNewYork reached out to Senator Addabbo’s office, where he was not available for comment.

Commerce Secretary Nominee Judd Gregg's Withdrawal: What was the real reason?

Yet another withdrawal in Obama's first days:  Secretary of Commerce nominee,  Judd Gregg.  According to Pajama's Media , it may well have had something do do with Obama and the census.  I had of course thought this on my own,  as soon as I knew of the census plan.    Redrawing and realigning   districts to favor minorities and Democrats would change the shape of things for the GOP and for the country,   for many years to come.  Rather  than a bipartisan effort,  there now seems to be a Democrat versus GOP war brewing in Washington.  Is this surprising,  given what the Democrats have been enduring,  with internal and external conflicts and tangents,  throughout the last 8-25 years,  depending on whether one takes the short or long view?  Our nation has been gearing up for a major shift for a long time.   We shall have to see what comes of it;  certainly a mix of advance,  regress,  but always change.

Of course,  there is the area of the federal stimulus package itself,  which as a Republican,  Gregg said he would not be able to "support 100%".   Speaking at a press conference on Capitol Hill,  Gregg told the assembled press,  "I am a fiscal conservative,  as everybody knows, and a fairly strong one."   Fiscal ideology is in fact very different between the two parties,  and that they cannot agree about where and how much to spend in a federal stimulus,  even in this time of urgent economic crisis,  is to be expected.  But perhaps this was actually an act of hostility on Gregg's part;  a statement on the census manouver?
