THE COMEBACK OF CLASSICAL LATIN: The Internet and the Resurgence of Classical Languages
Mercatornet speaks on the combined virtues of the Internet in aiding the comeback of classical Latin: equaluty of opportunity, and a no-nonsense system of rewards.

I studied classical Latin, in Independent study, for 2 years, with my Professor, Robert Thomas McDonald ( Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey), which included the translating of the letters of Seneca, the Stoic philosopher, to his student, Marcelius, and I will say that the language is beautiful, to speak, hear, and write; it deepens ones connection with the human history and antiquity; it makes one understand the meaning of many daily words, whose roots lie in classical Latin; and it helps discipline the mind. The return of study and knowledge of classical Latin as a mark of the refined mind is long overdue. I can count on the fingers of one hand those whom I know who can speak or write even the sparsest amounts of the beautiful old language, but these I respect and hold in highest esteen. And rightly so. Bravo, to the comeback. EN EVANT!
