A book about a gay Millennial who overcame school bullying and became a drag performer is slated for distribution on Amazon Books and Kindle the first week of March, 2011.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release)Feb 24, 2011 – "Chasing the Flame: A Gay Narrative in Photographs: A Gay Millennial's Progress from Shunned Student to Drag Star" is published on Amazon Books and Kindle, and will be available for distribution the first week of March.

From a January Press release on PR Log:
"The text follows the plight of Michael Mangus, a 14 year old North Tonawanda , New York high school student in 2005, who was bullied in school for his gay identity. Things reached a crisis point when he received a written death threat, and was forced to leave the dangerous environment.

The story takes us through Michael and his mother's - a former school teacher - 5 year struggle with school administrators and state offices, and escalates to the Supreme Appellate Court level. Chicago attorney and gay advocate Jay Paul Deratany lends his help, but eventually it is Michael's determination to embrace and celebrate his gay identity which is the key to the resolution

The 121 page, 8 x 10 soft-cover glossy book contains over 75 images of Michael, in his "boy identity", and as his stage persona, "Anita Waistline". It will also be available as an ebook and Kindle book on Amazon.

Michael Mangus is one of the youngest drag performers to be listed with New York's official Drag Queen Registry. He has performed at clubs in the Buffalo, New York, Toronto, and Ontario , CA areas. A reception for Michael is being planned in Provincetown on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, for August 2011."

Will the Amanda Knox story hurt Hayden Panettiere, or vice versa? | Ministry of Gossip | Los Angeles Times

Amanda Knox Lifetime Film leaves all in fog

Having  just viewed the Lifetime Movie,  Murder on Trial,  starring Hayden Panettiere  -   which  depicts  the story of the arrest and conviction of Amanda Knox and Raffaelle Solecito in Perugia , Italy  - " _________"  ( *note:  2 sentences deleted, for reasons I will discuss elsewhere. SMK)

Cinematically speaking, it is a well-crafted film:  It is cast in the proper light,  and strikes the right tone;  it is enchanting,  (filmed on location in Perugia) with excellent cinematograpy and music;  well-cast,  and well-acted,  especially by Ms. Panettiere.  The brutal aspects of the murder were blurred,   a move in all likelihood ensuing from the conflict with Italian press,  lawyers, and the victim's family.

Yet  insofar as tipping me toward the belief of Knox's guilt or innocence,  I am as confused as I have been all along.

On the one hand,  Knox seems suspect,  has no solid alibi, there are contradictions and strange portents everywhere,    and there well may have been a constellation of events which led to a combustion.

On the other,  there was shoddy police work,  mistakes in evidence collecting,  a brutal interrogation,  and Head Prosecutor Mignini -  himself under indictment at the time of Knox's arrest  -  is as obsessive as they come.

I wonder if the critic who wrote this review is as immersed in the Knox saga as I have been for 3 years;  I wonder also how he can wave away the lack of  solid evidence.

Whether or not the film will have a substantial impact on public opinion remains unclear. But I am sure Knox's attorneys and family are not pleased that although Knox was not clearly branded as "guilty"  in the film, neither was she cast in the clear light of "innocent abroad".

2012 CPAC to reach out to 'social conservatives'

Republican Party (United States)Image via Wikipedia
Barber had objected, "Among other things, GOProud advocates in favor of both 'gay marriage' and 'civil unions,' against pro-marriage constitutional amendments; is pushing for the repeal of the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' and advocates in favor of federal 'partnership benefits' for homosexuals."
"This group is pushing a radical leftist agenda that is an affront to the GOP platform, conservatism and, most importantly, the Word of God," he said.
GOProud's ownwebsitesaid, "GOProud, the only national organization for gay conservatives and their allies, announced they are a cosponsor of CPAC 2010. Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud's executive director, said, 'GOProud is thrilled to be a cosponsor of the single most important conservative gathering in the country.'"
Founded in 1964, ACU explains it "represents the views of Americans who are concerned with economic growth through lower taxes and reduced government spending and the issues of liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values and national security."
Its CPAC is "the nation's largest gathering of conservatives annually."
According to a blogger at the FrumForum,Cardenas earlier had warned it was "going to be difficult" to work with GOProud going forward.
He had cited the "behavior and attitude" of the homosexuality advocates, in light of the description by their leader, Chris Barron, of ACU Foundation chairman Cleta Mitchell as "a nasty bigot."
Barron later apologized, saying he reached his breaking point because of "unfair and untrue attacks" on him, his friends, his organization and others.
"I shouldn't have used the language that I did to describe Cleta Mitchell," he said.
WND also reportedwhen CPAC came under criticism for allowing Suhail Khan, a Washingtonattorneyand political activist, to serve on its board.
After serving as a Republican congressional
